Déesse Baka

Global Peace Photo Award 2023 - Médaille Alfred Fried pour la paix

This series was born from my encounter Afra in Rabat.

Originally from southern Cameroon, she crossed several African countries before continuing her journey to Canada. Created from our encounter, this series explores themes of identity, exile, and transformation.
The photographs capture moments of calm and rebuilding after a long journey marked by exile, borders, and trials.

Today, Afra is building her life between work and studies, in a country where she has found the freedom to express herself openly.
